I, Too, Jumped on the Bandwagon…

That’s right. I, like many others, gave up facebook for Lent. At the time, however, I thought it was my own, original idea. I was inspired by the realization that I was devoting way too much time to a totally non-productive pass-time while I was slowly going broke and watching my house fall apart around me. There was laundry that needed folding, floor to be swept, the poor dog needed walking, and here I sat staring at meaningless updates for hours a day.

Don’t get me wrong, facebook is fascinating! I’m thrilled to have contact with so many people I’d have otherwise never seen again, and I say that with complete certainly. How awesome is it to be surprised by a photo of yourself in kindergarten with a kid from twenty-five years ago – a memory lost until it magically appears on your blackberry VOILA!!

As I was contemplating what to give up for Lent this year, it was so obvious to me… a true test of my will. I knew it would be hard, but I was surprised how easy it truly was after the first day. I just disabled notifications on my blackberry and email, and when I walk by my husband chatting with his FB friends, I take a deep breath and remember my faith.

Pretty sure come April 12th, I’ll ease right back into my constantly vibrating blackberry mode, but maybe with a whole new attitude.

Welcome to my blog…where I’ll tell  you what I know about life as I know it.  I’m an Air Force wife and mom of two living in sunny Long Beach, CA.  I love to keep my family healthy, to travel, and to try to raise my daughters in a spiritually happy home.  I sing professionally, teach and write my own music.  Come back often if you’d like to know what’s happening in my world! Nice meeting you.

If Mama Ain’t Happy….

Like the old southern saying goes…”If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

I wanted to chat about this for a minute, because I’ve realized how strongly my mood affects my entire family.  We all have our days, and NOBODY”S PERFECT!  But I am making it a point to show my better side as much as possible, because this old saying is very true.

It doesn’t only apply to moms, as my husband can have a screwed up attitude sometimes and you should see the black cloud it casts over our home…but the point is this:  If I example humility and positivity to my children they will become humble and positive, and strong enough to stand on their own two feet, never letting someone else’s mood dictate their own.

‘Nuff said.

Y’all have a good day!

Something to Chew On….
